  • ken_athomos can I join in on this talk? i've been a Final Fantasy fan too XD

  • Toplinkar If I am allowed to jump in, I could say my favorite scene is from FFVI. I was astonished when all your characters finally reach the 3 statues of the deities of magic, then SUDDENLY Kefka stabs emperor Gesthal and takes all the power to himself. After that there is the scene of the world being torn apart by Kefka. That scene of the world being destroyed was the greatest moment I've had in any Final Fantasy to date,

  • ken_athomos I'll take the silence as a yes then how about those long summon animations? (knights of the round anyone? or maybe ark from FFIX XD)

  • rav3nite @matastig there is a limit of 500 characters for a post, keep that in mind in case you are doing the "wall of text" spell :_D

  • master_zidane Sorry about starting this thread and then disappearing. Got caught up in something. @rav3nite The intro for FFVIII was amazing. Not just talking about the FMV here, but the prologue as a whole. The only FF to have a better start was FF-X IMO. Another favourite moment of mine from FFVIII is when Squall leaves his escape pod to save Rinoa when she's stranded in space. "Eyes on Me" = <3 http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110922092436/finalfantasy/images/0/0e/FF8ScreenshotRinoa23.jpg[/i" target="_blank">[img]http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110922092436/finalfantasy/images/0/0e/FF8ScreenshotRinoa23.jpg[/i

  • master_zidane @Toplinkar Kefka has this way of surprising you, always

  • master_zidane Have a lot of moments from FFX that I love (being my favourite and all). Here's one that stands out (apart from the ending and the prologue): Crashing Yuna's wedding with Seymour at Bevelle " target="_blank"> (art by Benlo --- couldn't find a screencap for her fall)

  • rav3nite @Master_zidane yeah, I actually pretty much have VIII and X on par, but if I am to choose, one its, VIII... in VIII I kinda adore the part when you meet Sephie on the mission and she just rolls down the hil ^^ another amazing moments if FF are minigames... no idea how about you, but Triple Triad, Blitzball or Tetra master were just freaking amazing!

  • master_zidane Blitzball > Tetra Master > Triple Triad

  • matastig ok I Changed my mind, i'm gonna post a blog instead, because of the 500 Char limit XD i\ll post alink here ^_^

  • rav3nite ah well, blitzball > triple triad = tetra master for me... enjoyed Triple Triad a little more when collecting rare cards

  • master_zidane Another favourite moment of mine is the sparring session (that's what it started out as at least) between Genesis, Angeal and Sephiroth over a VR Junon Cannon in Crisis Core. Loveless + "Price of Freedom" + Gackt (Genesis) + Sephiroth + one of the best fighting sequences ever = EPIC. There was just too much awesome-ness there for me to behold.

  • rav3nite Yeah, it's kinda hard to beat that...

  • matastig @master_zidane a total win!

  • matastig that's all for now , but i'm working on a series of blogs with more details and pics XD

  • master_zidane None of you mentioned anything from FFXII, so I'll just say a few: Gabranth's final moments, prologue with Reks and the CG (Ashe's marriage, war etc.), anything and everything Balthier says, the final few sequences of Balthier and Fran. Balthier is; quite easily, one of my favourite characters.

  • matastig @master_zidane Not finished yet, still working on it i loved FFXII has its own flavor still underrated imo , btw i enjoyed every little FF game out there, each one has its own personality and i don\t get all the hate tbh when i first played FFXIII for the first time o hated it/1 then i waited a while then i gave it another chance and i loved it for what it is (played the game 3 times )

  • master_zidane @matastig Exactly! Has a few flaws (like the restricted crystarium, which makes the game feel like an extended prologue all the way until chapter 13 :P) but I don't have any issues with the linear structure of the game. That's how it was supposed to be. Another thing I didn't like was Vanille Pointless character (not as pointless as Vaan and Penelo though).

  • matastig lol yeah i hated Vaan but i hated the voice actor even more tbh i don't mind linearity when it comes to RPG\s i care more for the characters and the story , and i take linearity with great loveable characters and story over huge open world with ugly huge muscle morphed men, glitchy gameplay and flrying cows add to that 100's of poitless repeated side quests when you spend 2 to 3 hours looking for a lost donkey or to deliver some stupid letter to some pregnant....man! for crying out loud XD

  • master_zidane @matastig Agreed. I hate Vanille's voice actor more than the character. A linear storyline doesn't bug me if character progression and the combat system has depth, since that's what's driving the core gameplay. FFXIII limited that, which was a mistake IMO.

  • BenFireFox come on she was cute ^^

  • master_zidane Vanille's voice actor wasn't consistent at all. At times she was Australian, then she was American, then she was simply downright annoying.

  • rav3nite @master_zidane well yeah, FF XIII was a little less FF then others... character progression was interesting, but too overall, no specialization for either of the character, no uniqueness and the combat is just.... too simple

  • BenFireFox after so many ppl in the forums downed me cause i said you only needed to press one button i now say you needed to press 2 buttons (i forgot L1 from time to time) xD

  • matastig @master_zidane Indeed then FFXIII-2 fixed all that! i have a great deal of respect for Square Enix, SE never gave up on FFXIII , just like all the other Dev's did with thier broken titles, they deserve credit for standing behind their product at great expense, look at FFXIII-2 they fixed everything the fans asked for, i loved FFXIII-2.

  • master_zidane It was however, one of the most in-depth portrayal of characters in an FF game, for which it needs to be applauded. We get to know the characters of FFXIII really well, even though we only see them fighting throughout the game. Our perceptions about different characters change as the game progresses (contd.).

  • master_zidane We see Snow turn into the hero he always acted out to be. Hope learns to accept things for what they are and take responsibility instead of blaming others for what happens around him (might hit the character limit again if I explain every character). They don't get to have intimate moments, or a good nights rest, or a time where they're all goofing about, but they still seem more fleshed out than most characters in games.

  • matastig @BenFireFox SE wanted to FFXIII playable even for those new comers, but you can still take a full control of your battle if you're that good and knowledgable, you can choose abilities, and diffrent patterns of attacks but you gotta be fassssst and really good, i controlled my characters manually it was kinda overwhelming at first but i got used to it and i had a blast kicking ass and stuff XD i think SE added the one auto attack button to make it playable for all.

  • BenFireFox @matastig i know the reasons behind ^^ but ff-series was never a series who needed to put all folks into it it was definately a step in the wrong direction if you compare the fighting systems from 7-13-2 it was definatly a making it easier direction but all core ff fans dont want easy fights its the fights which are a big part of the success of the ff-series. Even with the manual selection the fighting system feeled odd

  • BenFireFox it was also a try to make it modern (fast paced) but thats really unneccessary the high speed in nowadays games is moslty made cause of the lack of story which ff definatly doesnt has

  • master_zidane You should be praising the game for the awesome auto-attack AI Without any gambits or anything, it pretty much read my mind, most of the time xD However, if you do things by yourself, you can actually perform slightly better, and you can't win every fight with auto-battle, let alone 5-star them.

  • rav3nite @master_zidane too bad I disliked Snow since the start :_( the only positive thing I found on him was just oh so amazing Shiva Sisters....since Shiva is my most favourite GF

  • BenFireFox vanille looks a bit like my gf maybe thats why i like her

  • master_zidane The battle system actually had more depth than previous FFs. Only problem was that they were trying to attract a greater chunk of the western market which didn't previously play FF, which pretty much caused all the flaws in FFXIII we see. FFXIII-2 is proof of that.

  • master_zidane @rav3nite How can you not like Snow?

  • BenFireFox it hadnt more deep @master_zidane they dropped so many gains from previous titles jobsystems, the choose of your upgrades (not you need to follow a linear line in the pangrims), the summons .... i never knew how they could ... even how the spells and actions are grouped made it silly there was no chellange i remember in FXIII i didnt died once till i came to the fights after you ended the story (the star bosses)

  • BenFireFox snow was really silly he was the western stereotype hero ( in japanese eyes) strong but dull as a nut xD

  • master_zidane @BenFireFox I call that character development/progression. The battle system itself had a lot more factors actively affecting a battle than in previous FFs. So yeah, I agree with you on that, but combat itself was great.

  • matastig @master_zidane I trust SE, they're diffrent than all the players in the field , they have one of the best crew in the video game industry , the same good old folks from legendary SquareSoft, i have a high hopes for the new upcoming FF games, and maybe it's not SE's fault maybe it's the annoying newcomers who keep bashing FF for no reason,, part1

  • matastig part2: we need to try different things from time to time and as Voltaire said: 'our wretched species is so made that those who walk on the well-trodden path always throw stones at those who are showing a new road' i blame us! the good ol fans

  • BenFireFox @master_zidane i found it too easy too focused on making a fast action fight and pretty limited well but i would call me a core ff'ler so i didnt expected anything else from making the ff-series more open to new players

  • BenFireFox @matastig agreed the always tred new things but this choice was a bit different from the previous once in my eyes it was the first ff which made fighting easier and less deep and we want that hard challanging epic fights with a challange in it not a press x and watch the next cutsceen thing

  • master_zidane Yeah, the battles were easy all the way until Gran Pulse, which was a bad thing, but it wasn't because of the battle system. It was because they were making the game more accessible.

  • master_zidane Since we've repeated this over and over so many times already, lets end the discussion about FFXIII unless someone talks about something we haven't yet discussed

  • matastig @master_zidane I agree and i also blame SE for that, i mean look at Crapcom now, they tried so hard to appeal more to the westren market , tehy lost thier creative Japanese Dev's in the process and failed terribly lol

  • rav3nite @master_zidane ...no idea why actually, it was just a feel he gave me... maybe the character overall, his wanna-be hero act... frankly I don't mind this act in anime the 'im a hero that will save and protect all'.. but in this case it was annoying, even despite he became hero.... for Hope as well, annoying little kid.... and another thing that bugged me on FF XIII.... char names were just simple, no originality... even a 5 y/o kid can think of Light or Hope... but beat Squall, Rinoa, Quistis...

  • master_zidane Haha. Names are directly connected to where a the character exists in the given universe and what the norm is for that locale. Consider Cocoon names against Gran Pulse ones, you'll understand why.

  • master_zidane @armin0jrpg Here you go! Leave a comment and you'll keep getting updates till the end of eternity (or until Fuse goes bonkers)

  • armin0jrpg 99 percent of CRISIS CORE FFVII first 2 hours of FF tactics advanced, FF XIII lots of stuff, FF IV them of Love

  • matastig @armin0jrpg I loved every little thing about FF VII CC actually i'm about to start my 15th playthrough tonight but this time i'm gonna do the story missions only! (i keep syaing that but i end up playing all the side missions just to fight Sephiroth in the extra side mission on 'Very Hard' )
