“I am an ageing gamer who started out on an Atari 800 and my best friend had a Commodore 64. I have played a lot of the seminal games when they first came out and was blown away by many of them. The first game that had me hooked was M.U.L.E and there have been others over the years that have drawn me in like Panzer General, Elite, Dungeon Master and Syndicate. I have found that the newer games have greatly improved graphics and what not but have not really changed or improved game play. I have been going to Gamespot for years and checking out reviews but I find a bias in Gamespot review for graphics particularly of the 3D variety. I think that game play and balance are far more important. Darwina is a classic example of an old-school game that didn’t worry about graphics and yet was very compelling. I especially liked the soundtrack that paid homage to the old sound systems that could do little more than beep. I find that strategy and RPG games have been the most fun of late. RTS games seem to be click fests and require way too much in terms of reflexes and rushing strategies to capture my interest.
Hey look, it's a totally original dude wearing armor. With a huge gun and a helmet (a visor?). And he's riding a unicorn. This user was granted this magical emblem for not having any of their user profile images hosted on untrusted websites during The Great Purge of March 2013.
