“I grew up playing video games with my older cousins when I was just a few years old. It was a tough learning process, obviously, but it was an experience that has stuck with me to this day. When I was about five, I got an NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) as my first gaming system, bundled with Super Mario Bros. 3 (which also happens to be my all-time favorite game) Since then, video games have become the thing I'm most passionate about. As with most people, I've had my ups and downs, but I could always play a good game to get away from a lot of stuff. These days, I look to meet other gamers who have interesting stories of their own and unique views on video games. I also look into what I can do to help the gaming industry grow. I feel like there's something I can give, but only if I work hard enough.
Games are more important than paying for food or paying the bills. The serious collector has made a lifelong investment in the pursuit of having way more games than you do. Ignoring review scores, maintaining few friendships so as not to commit oneself to additional spending on birthdays or holidays, this individual is single-mindedly intent on owning lots and lots of games. A noble pursuit, indeed.
