“Gaming is a hobby for me. Something to do that is fun. I've been gaming since the 80's on everything from friends' Atari's and NES units to my home PCs. My first console was a Genesis in the 90's. Since getting the X360, I have pretty much burned out on PC gaming. I would consider myself a pretty serious "casual" gamer. I play about as much as some hardcore gamers, but I play for fun instead of being ultra-competitive. I also prefer single player or cooperative campaigns instead of competitive multiplayer. My gaming genre preferences are RPG, FPS, Action/Adventure, Driving, and some types of more "casual" games. Or... pretty much anything that is fun and incorporates a mix of some of those genres mentioned.
Games are more important than paying for food or paying the bills. The serious collector has made a lifelong investment in the pursuit of having way more games than you do. Ignoring review scores, maintaining few friendships so as not to commit oneself to additional spending on birthdays or holidays, this individual is single-mindedly intent on owning lots and lots of games. A noble pursuit, indeed.
